Thank God it's Monday!

Thank God it's Monday!

You might be a little bit surprised by this post title, because who is looking forward to 5 days of work until the next weekend? Well, WE were - today at least, as this year's first 'Monday market' took place at our beloved Rimini bar (http://www.rimini.ch/). The Monday market is some kind of a flea market with people selling vintage clothes and accessories and boutique owner's promoting their shops. It takes place every Monday evening in summer provided that the weather is nice (as it is outdoors).
You can definitely find some good stuff there and after looking everything through you can have a drink or a pizza and enjoy the summer night!

Geneva

Geneva

Yesterday evening I came back from Geneva, where I've spent a lovely weekend with my friends Olivia and Dorine (who's currently living there). We did some shopping, bar-hopping, clubbing (in Lausanne), cooking, hanging out in cafés, strolling around, etc. Well, it was just the perfect weekend trip :)

Here you'll get some impressions of Geneva:
(Most pictures have been taken on Sunday, unfortunately the only nice-weather-day)

 CAFE DU LYS

The bars in Geneva are rather crowded but the atmosphere is very comfortable nevertheless.

At the Café du Lys, there's a whole shelf full of various kinds of syrup. Looks great!

CAROUGE:

Carouge is a lovely quarter of Geneva, with nice boulevards, little streets and cute shops. Particularly on Sunday it's an adorable place to hang out in one of the many cafés.

Cute Cupcake shop. Unfortunately it was closed,
but I'll definitely go there next time ;)

Olivia in front of the Cinéma Bio, the café we went to.

Drinking a delicious hot apple juice with cinnamon!

Weird-looking mushroom-like fountain

Our self-made tarte flambée just before our departure. yummy!!
Hope you had a good start into the new week!! xxx Brida

こんにちは Kon'nichiwa

こんにちは Kon'nichiwa

Hi there!

Yesterday evening we thought about doing something special. What could be more exceptional than Sushi in Zurich? Well, actually there is a lot, but at least we made our Sushi by ourselves! In the following we'd like to show you how successful we were. Maybe you even get motivated to do it on your own once as well. For this reason we added a recipe in the post's end.

As you can see we made various sorts of Makisushi, which means as much as "rolled sushi".

The ones we like most are Maki with salmon and tuna. By adding some cucumber and / or avocado they're even more tasty ! As wrap we used onces the classical Nori sheet. As you might know Nori is the Japanese name for edible seaweed. The yellow wrap is made of soya and is slightly sweet-tasting. Yummy !

Recipe:

What you need:

- sushi rice
- tuna and / or salmon (filet)
- avocado
- cucumber
- Nori sheets and / or soya sheets
- bamboo sushi mat

How to do:

1. boil sushi rice and let it cool
2. cut the tuna, salmon, avocado and cucumber in slices (not too tiny)
3. take your bamboo sushi mat and a Nori sheet and spread the cool rice on the sheet. Before doing so you should moist your hands with some water so the rice won't stick to your fingers. Cover only two - thirds of the Nori sheet
4. place your ingredients centered on the rice
5. now start rolling the sushi roll with the help of your sushi mat (press firmly)
6. cut the roll into slices

Inside - out - rolls (Uramaki):

1. cut the Nori sheet in half and cover each half with rice (it will give you two rolls)
2. if you like pour some sesam seeds on the rice
3. turn the Nori with the rice over
4. place your ingerdients centered on the Nori
5. start rolling with the sushi mat (press firmly)
6. cut the roll into sclices

いただきます Itadakimasu ! Enjoy your meal !

Matin Ensoleillé

Matin Ensoleillé

Today we spent a wonderful morning strawling around the old town of Zurich ("Niederdorf"). It was really idyllic as there weren't a lot of people around yet and we took a lot of pictures at all kinds of nice spots.

At this point we'd also love to present you our favourite shoe store in Zurich: M. Dubois (Oberdorfstrasse 15, 8001 Zürich). You'll find many great brands there like Ganni, Pertini, Dr Martens (well the list is very long:)). It's definitely worth a visit as you'll always fall in love with at least one pair of shoes.

By walking around those gorgeous little side streets, we came across "Villa Tobler", to which belongs a wonderful garden that is open to the public. Unfortunately the flowers weren't blooming yet, but nevertheless we really enjoyed being at this calm place. Looking at the sculpture in the backyard makes you feel like visiting an ancient Roman-style villa.

In those side streets we've been mentioning before there are loads of little boutiques and we adore the doors of the houses there: they are of many different styles and so colourful:

Tip of the day:

The Iphone cases are made of fish skin and they are really pretty! So if you're looking for a little more sophisticated case than the commercial ones, check these out. They can be bought at several boutiques, e.g. at M. Dubois'.

Le vernis Chanel

We're totally in love with Chanel nail polish: there's such a variety of colours for all different occasions and watching this creative "Shade Parade" commercial, we just wish to have them all. Regarding the quality we can definitely recommend them and wearing them is always a good feeling.
This is our humble collection, which we'd love to enlargen even more:

Sunday's Little Sins

Sunday's Little Sins

Bienvenue!

We're happy to welcome you on our new blog. It's basically all about the little things that make life enjoyable, as fashion and lifestyle.
So is there anything better than a sunny Sunday? Not really, but those delicious macarons can even sweeten your day. In Switzerland they are known as "Luxemburgerli" and you can get them at Sprüngli's. Viktor & Rolf's Fairy Tales perfectly fit that dreamy mood.

A bientôt Brida & Laura
